Reading
June is fast approaching —
you can feel the heat of summer in the
hallways.The long, lazy days of summer offer
kids lots of opportunities to discover new
books and the fun of reading.
Children need to read outside of school.
Research clearly shows that the key to
stopping summer reading loss is finding
novel ways to get books into the hands of
children during the summer break.

that Pinewoods has
designed a
COW
to get
literacy on the mooo-ve?
“With a little help from our friends,”
a retired school bus has recently been
gutted, painted, lettered and re-fitted as a
classroom with carpeting,
air-conditioning and electricity. We are taking
our literacy and Parents Assuring Student
Success series “on the road” in this
self-contained mobile state-of-the art
Classroom
On
Wheels.
Family literacy experiences will be close
to home in a comfortable setting at partnering
churches, community centers, recreation
facilities and other elementary schools as well
as community fairs and events. Look for the
COW
at community events.
